Hi guys, gals, and anyone else.
This is a strange update. It's my last one as Mr Beaver... well sort of.
Some might have noticed that I haven't been as active as usual, this is down to being rather busy.... For those who haven't seen the news here, I'm joining the Carbide 3D team as Director of Product Development - fancy right.... I'm still a man of the people, so please just call me Luke.
Let me start off by saying thank you for all your support, help, enquiries, orders and conversations. Without all of this it's fair to say Beaver CNC would not be where it is today.
This journey started over a year ago, and it took off. Being honest, I had an idea and wanted to see it through. It snow balled and I ran with it, I learned hard and fast and within 6 months my home workshop became a production and fulfilment shop distributing products to over 20 countries, we made and shipped more HDZ's than I had ever hoped, launched 2 machines, 3 probes and a whole host of other things too.
Whilst this was a crazy adventure and has ticked off a number of things on my bucket list, there were downsides... As the business grew my spare time evaporated, I was answering emails at 3am and Hannah was working 9-5, then working another 5 hours getting orders out the door next day. We were in a position where we about to invest in a larger space and make this a full time venture.
At that point Rob reached out and we had a conversation. Join Carbide 3D and have the weight of a fully fledged business behind me and grow Carbide 3D.
This would allow me to focus on what I'm good at - develop and ship. I then spent a few days with Rob, Jorge and Ed and even meet Winston.
Following our time together it was clear we have an aligned strategy. By combining our strengths we would ensure that not only will Carbide 3D continues to offer feature packed CNC machines, software, accessories and support that could be used from a hobbyists to a pro shop, but we would grow.
This is a huge opportunity for me and, needless to say I'm stoked to be joining the team. Whilst I can't share what I'm working on I say it's exciting!
The above is all about me, so now lets talk about you and the impact this has on you - our customers:
First off, yes the HDZ will be coming with me to Carbide 3D, it will be fully supported by Carbide Motion and Carbide's support team!
If you have bought any product from Beaver CNC you will be supported by Carbide 3D going forward. If you want to email me, please do.
A dedicated area will be setup in the Carbide 3D community for Beaver users, if you have the HDZero CNC you can continue to discuss this here or there.
This does mean we will be closing our doors so to speak. If it's listed in the store it's still for sale and will ship from the UK. That said unlike the HDZ, not all products will be coming with me. If you were dead set on a HDZero CNC or active probe now is the time to get one, there are limited numbers remaining.
If you have any questions just email me.
Whilst the above sounds straight forward, it's not all plain sailing. We're in the process of moving HDZ production to the USA, and with that comes its challenges, however we're not far off launching and should be shipping shortly along with adding the above support as mentioned.
Going forward we're going to be doing some pretty cool stuff, my remit is to give our makers the ability to to do what they do best, Make.
