The stock Shapeoko XXL x-axis was free-rolling, as is the current Y axis. I upgraded the X axis to the HDZ and, even with the eccentric nuts all the way to the loose position, it's not free-rolling. I can move it with my hands without much effort, but there's a fair bit of friction, like the wheels are in compression.
If I were to turn the eccentric nuts, I could lock the X axis so it can't move.
Unlike the stock X axis, I also could not get the carriage on the v-rail without taking off the bottom wheels (I could have removed the whole rail, but that's a project). The stock carriage has just enough play to loosen the nuts completely and then slip it on the rail. Not the HDZ. Expected?
I can also feel a slight bit of out-of-roundness or something when pushing it (like when you have a bubble in your car tire - bumpbumpbumpbump) Could also be a seam or something; I haven't checked.
So is all this expected? Should the X axis (without the belt on) be free-rolling like stock, or is the HDZ supposed to be much tighter?
